I have travelled this road for many years now and always get asked by others how long does it take to drive from Brisbane to Gympie?
Now this of course depends if you live on the Southside of Brisbane, Brisbane City or on the Northside of Brisbane, I live on the Northside so this means the drive and trip time will take a little less than it would if I lived closer to the city or on the other side of the Gateway.
I travel this mainly for work rather than pleasure although I don’t mind spending time in the car or I wouldn’t have started a career in sales.
Now today the drive took me about the one hour and forty minute mark.
The traffic was good the whole way and I was only cut off from another merging motorist once on the trip, the weather was fine and the road conditions were very good.
I only encountered road works twice where we had to slow down to 80km, other than the odd section of road where the speed limit went back to 90km and 100km it was plain sailing at 110km the whole way up.
The road condition up the whole way is great, there is plenty of overtaking lanes and two lanes each way most of the way so you don’t get bottleneck’s or impatient drivers overtaking at risky places to get ahead of the rest of the cars or trucks.
Other than that, the trip home was much the same at the end of the day, plenty of traffic officers around with cameras with one just coming out of Gympie.
So if you want to know how long it takes to drive from Brisbane to Gympie, if you leave from the Northside, give yourself about an hour forty to two hours of time, if you are in Brisbane City, allow anywhere from two hours to 2 and a half hours (Depending on what time of the day you leave) and lastly the Southside of Brisbane, I’d give myself anywhere from two hours and fifteen minutes up to three hours depending on what time you are leaving to go there.
