Walk the Jinker Track in Bunyaville Forest Reserve

Jinker Track is a great place for a walk and is located pretty much totally inside the Bunyaville Forest Reserve, or as it is called on the Parks and Reserves map, the Bunyaville Conservation Park.

When you arrive to the Jinker Track from the city you more than likely would take the exit off Old Northern Road, so just keep an eye out for a car park as soon as you get on the Jinker Track road.

Wherever you park along the Jinker Track you can walk either way from there for how ever long you want too.

The Jinker Track walk was good for us as it we have a young family, so we could wander along easily along the concrete path which is wide enough for the bikes, other walkers, runners and us.

There is a lot more walking tracks through the reserve and also as we found out lots of mountain bike tracks too.

There were cyclists and runners everywhere.

I have a feeling that we will get more out of Jinker Track and the Bunyaville Conservation Park as the kids get older and we can start to do the bush walks on offer or even start to ride the mountain bike tracks too.

Although we only walked along the main road of Jinker Track there is lots of different areas around the park.

Around the Bunyaville track area you have toilets, picnic tables, barbeques, an interpretive trail and also plenty of parking which is a bonus.

From the map there is about 9.5km of tracks on offer for the mountain bikers in the area.

There used to be timber mills around this whole area back in the day so the Jinker Track got its name from the name “Jinker” which was a four wheel wagon that was used to cart wood and was pulled by six horses.

It used to be Jinker’s track and was changed through time to Jinker Track.

So overall a great place to visit and walk, just type in “Jinker Track Bunya” into your favourite sat nav device or phone and the directions will come up for you easily.

Here is a map PDF for you to look at with the whole area, it is on the NPRSR.qld.gov.au website “Bunyaville Conservation Park”.

This walk is not to far out of Brisbane City, so it is a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and burn off some extra calories.

You can have a look at a lot more of my photos of the area on my G+ photos page.

Enjoy!
