This is the first music festival I went to upon arriving in Australia and within a year, I was living here and off to the next one.
The Big Day Out has been around since 1992 being held in many cities which included Auckland Big Day Out too until recently.
Currently the Big Day Out takes in Sydney, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.
Multiple stages across multiple genre’s of music with something for everyone’s tastes and also a good mixture of current and older act’s (Older meant in the best possible way), the smaller stages are great as you do get to see some bands that you absolutely love up close and personal if you get there early enough, Fear Factory comes to mind for me, pre them coming on, standing on a massive pile of jandles/thongs at the front of the stage waiting for them to come out.
So if you want a great day out, book it in, make sure you have the next day off, you have time to plan your next Big Day Out too, will it be the 2013,2014,2015,2016,2017 Big Day Out or the big milestone 2020, if I go to the 2020 Big Day Out as a celebration the big question will be, will The Red Hot Chilli Peppers still be headlining.
