I know I said we or I wouldn’t be going into Brisbane City during the G20 but the power of a woman, namely The Bride persuaded me by selling me the story “It is a once in a life time chance to see this in our city” and so, we left our home on the Northside of Brisbane and headed into the G20 Brisbane area.
Here below is the first lot of pictures of our G20 day in the city.
We went in by train to the G20 and I’ll be putting up about five pages of pictures so keep on checking back.

G20 Train Travel into Brisbane City
This is the train stop where we started the day heading into the city, Toombul Rail Station was empty with plenty of car parking spaces.
It was an easy park, out with the pram and gear for the day and walk into the station.

As you can see above the trains into the G20 were empty, at least on the Friday Public Holiday they were.
We had our bags searched at the Bowen Hill stop and by Security and Police.
They made a service announcement to have your bags ready for inspection and then wen through each carriage after this.
A few minor things with this, one of the guys sitting just down from us hadn’t got his bag ready and the Police man forwardly asked him if he had heard the announcement at all and he replied yes.
I’m guessing if they are searching the whole trains bags over a whole day they are probably expecting you to be ready.
And you know you are travelling into a high security zone so these checks are just part n parcel of getting into the G20.
There was also an incident outside, an elderLy gent was escorted past our train window with his hands behind his back with an anonymous mask on his head backwards.
He was resisting slightly and demanding to see the the Police Sergeant quite loudly as he passed our window accompanied by about 10 or so security and Police.

We got to Central Station and it was empty, not many people coming in and not many people heading out.
A quick toilet break and then off into Brisbane City.
G20 Travel into Brisbane City | Adelaide Street blocked off for Motorcades
Adelaide Street was blocked off both ways with Police and workers lining the edges.
The Motorcades coming in from the Brisbane Airport would travel in this way through the city.
It was still open for normal traffic from what I could tell as there was a few cars still travelling down the road.
This was the first time I have seen a car do a U Turn in Adelaide Street too.

As you can see here from the other direction the street was absolutely dead.
Up until this point the trip in on the train was great, getting in and out of Central Station was easy, the walk into the city was easy and there was certainly plenty to look at with the increased security and streets being blocked.
G20 Brisbane City had certainly emptied out the city, mind you it was only the Friday and all of the Leaders were just starting to arrive.
