We get asked by quite a few friends who we use for pest control on the Northside of Brisbane, I think it must be because we have quite a few trees around on a little bigger than normal piece of land and so we have to keep onto the pest control or it gets out of control fast.
Another thing that is a concern all the time is termite control here in Brisbane as well, they are everywhere and more than likely in every single garden in Brisbane, you just can’t see them, you can just work on preventing them coming in to feast on your timber.
We have used the same pest control company here a few times and also once I think at our old house and have found this company to be very good and very thorough too.
This time we also got the once a year timber pest control check too.
This means going around the whole house with a moisture meter and a golf ball on the end of a golf club shaft checking for termite signs in the house and also for our house a look at under the house too, so a very comprehensive check of everything.
They sprayed inside the house around all the edges in the rooms and a bit more around the main areas like the kitchen where the pests tend to gather more.
Also we have had a little bit of a ant problem happening in the weeks leading up to this so they used a cream on the entry points and also outside where they were come in, this cream attracts the ants at first and then they eat it and take back to the nest and pretty much in a few days they are gone, so this happened.
Also our roof cavity was done and a powdered form of pest control was sprayed around the edges during the timber checkup there, so from the results it looks like our friendly mouse hasn’t returned after putting bait up there too.
Outside was sprayed as well, this means the outside of our main house, the rumpus room, under house cavity and lastly the shed at the bottom of the property.
I think a different spray is used outside compared to inside for obvious reasons, so I think a stronger type is used out there.
The job took around a couple of hours to do and we even found a few ant nests while talking at the ute and so they were quick to get the gear off the back and give them a squirt too.
So how often should you use pest control?
I get these guys in every six months for a pest control spray and once a year for a proper pest timber building report for the house and I tell you what, the building report is more comprehensive than the building report we got done when we bought the house.
