Now I have written about this before, I have been to a lot of games before with my old job role and now in my new sales role we have just started to go to games at Suncorp, I thought I had already found the best car park for Suncorp Stadium no matter what game is on, but I was wrong or just hadn’t parked there until now in the evening.
I had tickets to go and see the Brisbane Broncos vs Sydney City Roosters game last week, so I was back on Google again to look for car parking in Brisbane city as I can remember last time leaving a bit late and parking in the Brisbane Transit Centre, which was pretty empty and I found out why at the end of the night, as the price was very high for the convenience.
I wrote about pre booking a different car park in the city for next time and also about trying a few different car parks if I had the time and was going to many games.
Also a few times before this I had been given a ticket for parking in the no parking zone that is on game day, this hurt the back pocket a little and was also bad at the time as they had just changed the zones and increased the no parking area, which I’m sure would’ve and still will be a nice earner for the city council.
Well this time, I had the time to work it out and also to get to the game I plenty of time if I did have to park a little further away.
I tell you, I found the perfect car park for Suncorp Stadium.
It’s cheap and it only takes about five to ten minutes more walking to the bus pick up area too which takes you through straight to the stadium.
To my surprise the car park that has been the cheapest and the best car park to date is the King George Square Car Park which is owned by the Brisbane City Council.
This car park is only a small way from the Brisbane Transit Centre car park and it cost me, wait for it, $12 for the time I was there and this was for the whole game time and more.
I couldn’t believe it, a few minutes extra walk and it was $60 plus less than I paid last time for parking to go to the Rugby League.
Now we have Roar Football, Reds Rugby Union, Rugby Union Tests, State of Origin and more Broncos Rugby League games to go this year and guess where I’ll be parking and walking to the bus from, that’s right, the King George Square Car Park.
If you want to type it into your phone of choice or Navman of choice before you leave, just type in “King George Square Car Park”.
The King George Square Car Park is located underground between Ann and Adelaide Streets, which is next to the City Hall.
It is open seven days a week until late and I have noticed the 24 hour parking signs up too, so they must have changed it as I can’t remember it being 24 hour.
To get to the car park I usually go down through Countess Street and right onto Roma Street and then onto the car park entry, make sure you keep an eye out to veer right after the transit centre or you will end up on Turbot Street and it’s a long way back around.
At the end of your night at Suncorp Stadium, it is just a small walk back to the car park and you just have to follow the masses down past the Transit Centre and follow that road.
I usually catch the bus to the game across the road from the Brisbane Transit Centre and then walk back.
The King George Square car park exit comes out on Roma Street also so you get out and straight onto Ann Street then onto the Inner City Bypass.
I am only getting a bit excited about car parks as I use to have a secret car park in Hershel Street that was $5 for the night for games, I got there early and it was easy to get a car park.
I just had a look at Google Maps and the picture they have at in the street level view is still the construction view for the block where the car park was, I was gutted when I couldn’t park there anymore.
Anyway, the best car park for Suncorp Stadium has been found I think for now, King George Square Car Park in Brisbane City.
At least they can’t demolish this one, or can they?

There is also parking at Petrie Terrace state school. They open the school grounds for parking during stadium events. @20 and 5 minute walk to stadium.

Thanks for that Bob.
This is the first time I have heard about that car park too.
More the merrier is better when it comes to options for parking for games.
Thanks again, and thanks for stopping by at Troy Spro too….
