As Narangba Library closes its doors this month it is a sad day indeed for our little ones that have been getting their books there for a while and enjoying it, so Narangba Library closing it’s last pages will be the end of an era.
The Bride takes the kids down to the Narangba Library probably once a month to change all their bedtime story books over for new ones and also pick up some DVD’s at the same time from there.
It is very convenient having the library so close with little ones as the trip doesn’t impact on time and also it can be accomplished easily in between sleeps.
The Moreton Bay Regional Council has decided to close the Narangba Library and increase the capacity of the Burpengary and North Lakes Library and so, the Narangba Library and others are closing.

It takes just over 10 minutes to get to Burpengary from our area and about 20 minutes or more to get to North Lakes.
The North Lakes Library is a big, new Library located at 10 The Corso, North Lakes.
The North Lakes Library is open seven days a week, so yes, open on Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
It is closed on Public Holidays like most and has 55 public PC’s with internet, Microsoft Office 2013, colour / black and white photocopying, computer training rooms, toy library, children’s area and youth zone, after hour returns, family toilet with changing room, reading lounge and playground.
The Burpengary Library is quite an older building and not quite as big, it is located at 121 Station Road Burpengary.
The Burpengary Library is open only six days a week, so closed on Sunday and Public Holidays too.
It has 11 public PC’s, Microsoft Office 2010, colour / black and white photocopying and scanning, parents room with change table, Justice of the Peace there on Tuesday and Friday 10am to 1pm, children’s area and youth zone, after hours returns, toys for loan and a courtyard.

So these are our two options for libraries in the Narangba area from the 31st of October.
I think The Bride has been to both of these other libraries in the past so she will know which one is the best for us, or it might boil down to convenience in the end and where we/she is travelling from or how much time we have on the day.
I know there is a lot of people that aren’t happy that use the libraries that are shutting in the Moreton Bay area but at the end of the day you can’t really do much and we do feel sorry for the people who aren’t as mobile as us and relied on being able to get to their local library easily and conveniently.
You have to feel sorry for the staff also as their lives will be changing too, either they will be moving on or relocating to a new home too.
Lastly, I can only hope that they relocate the train that travels around above everyone’s heads to North Lakes Library or Burpengary, as that little fella keeps the kids amused for quite a while when your scouting for new books.
