Now I have written about Costco opening in Brisbane at North Lakes a few times now and last time I mentioned I thought a March grand opening date, I was pretty much very wrong by looking at the work site at the moment and also keeping up with the banter online around the place, so I think the Costco opening date will be quite a while away.
I have registered via email from the main Costco website to get information about the North Lakes opening and although I haven’t received anything as yet there are people who have gotten an email with information about the construction, membership, employment and also the location of their temporary office in North Lakes where you can sign up for membership or get brochures about Costco and what they sell and do.
I think I’ll head down there over the coming weeks and sign up and then just play the waiting game from then in regards to an opening date.
You have the option of business and personal membership too for Costco so it will be interesting to see how this works too.
Online on the Costco website you can register to get your membership card for the North Lakes store, they don’t mail them out to you though so you will have to pick it up from them at some stage.
Also all the different stipulations of opening an account is there, this is pretty much for the ABN Business user of Costco as you have to have three types of business ID for them so you can get a Costco business membership card for yourself.
From doing a bit of reading and also taking into consideration the pace of construction, it is looking like a May or June Costco Brisbane opening.
I’d say this will depend on many things, weather and also pace of construction and things going smoothly on the construction site.
I will be off to take some pictures in the coming days too of the site as I go to the Bunnings there quite a lot and I’m thinking of doing the one picture from the same spot each week so I can see the difference over the time leading into the opening, I’m sure as the opening date gets closer it will accelerate in progress and change quite fast from the outside anyway.
Either way, a Costco coming to the Northside of Brisbane and to North Lakes will change the way a lot of people shop and also the jobs that are on offer too for the area will be great I’d say, I’m getting sucked into it now, so keep an eye out as I’ll keep on writing about my experiences and what’s happening with my local Costco here in Brisbane.

Good evening Maria,
I’m not sure as yet, I received an email from Costco on the 21st and there is still no hint as yet of a date except Costco is hoping to move into their building at the end of April and start stocking the warehouse prior to the grand opening to which they hope to announce in the coming weeks.
Keep an eye on my posts and I’ll be sure to write about it as soon as I know.
I’m just about to put up some more pictures too from today and they have been certainly powering ahead in the earth moving and laying the gravel for the car parks, but there is still plenty left to do for them.
Inside, from the Costco Newsletter emailed out, has all the lights up and the floor is polished.
Thanks for asking and like I said above, keep an eye out here and I’ll let you now when I do.

Good morning Margaret,
Thanks for the question, from what I can tell as I’m not a member yet and the Costco at North Lakes hasn’t opened yet, is if you have a friend with a Costco Membership they can take in two visitors when they are at Costco but these friends aren’t allowed to purchase.
If you want to look around, on the Costco Australia website it says that you can purchase a membership and if not satisfied they will refund this back to you.
So there is two options for getting into Costco to have a look around, I’d say find a friend if you want to go and have a sticky beak around and then decide if you want a membership after that.
Good luck Margaret and have a great day.

Costco North Lakes bldg should be stocked by mid May for an end of May opening. Thery have to wait for the US Executives to be available for the opening.
Troy Spro says
Thanks for that Danny.
I haven’t heard anything as yet from them via email or the like.
I was down there today having another look as I had to pick up some supplies from Bunnings across the road and all the pumps have gone in now and there is alot more finished in the outside construction from when I was there last.
Thanks again for the information.
