The office renovations at our home in Brisbane have been completed and I am sitting in the desk chair now typing this in a brand spanking new office layout.
I thought I’d better write about the house renovations while the memories are still fresh.
As you can see in the pictures, there is a big change in this part of the house.
What was a before the renovations a simple office desk attached to the wall via a shelf unit is now a well thought out office with plenty of storage for books and anything else you could need or want.
There is even his and hers built in draw filing cabinet in the bottom draws in the desk unit.
So from having a look around from left to right there is taller cupboards and these have wider shelves behind them, then we have the triangle display shelves, next is another wall cupboard with a few more display shelves, above the desk is three cupboards with storage shelves below these as well and lastly the desk which wraps around the whole wall space with two sets of draws with, as I have already said, the bottom draws with built in filing cabinets.
The office renovations part of the job was completed within the second from memory, so basically the shell was put in on the first day and the rest was completed on the second day by the tradesmen.
To say we were excited from seeing it come together was an understatement, it is a great functional place to work in now and also, for the future has enough room for the squids to sit here and do their homework if needed, this will probably mean that Dad has to move his computer aside, but that battle will be fought in the future, not now, it may be a good excuse to get a new laptop and work from the deck overlooking the garden in the fresh air, we will see.
No problems with the office renovations, the only thing that had to be moved from the old office was the phone line point and also one GPO power point, these had always been on the far side of the room with me having to run a power lead around and also running a long telephone extension lead around too, I often wondered if this extra length in the phone line affected the speed of the internet slightly, I’m not sure, but now it is a lot shorter and I don’t have leads everywhere so it’s great.
Anyway, it’s great having a new workspace, very motivating, we just have to move everything back in now and as we have been very busy this will happen over the coming weeks.
Now it’s time to enjoy the area and it’s good to see the end of the office renovations.
