The family and I have been to the NRL Grand Final a few years ago and one of the many things I/we had to do was to get tickets, and as we have young kids, I had to find out are kids tickets free into ANZ Stadium?
The main reason for looking for this information is so I didn’t buy a ticket when we didn’t need to, so we save a bit of money and also I was doing a bit of prep work before the tickets went on sale.
We have one child that is a little younger and has got in for free at Suncorp Stadium (Lang Park) before due to age.
My wife’s team had made the finals the weekend before, and because we both aren’t members of our favourite clubs, we had to wait until Tuesday morning to see if we could get tickets to the finals at all (this has changed since, becoming a member of your NRL Club certainly does have its benefits).
She supports the North Queensland Cowboys, so they had a great year, and my team Warriors were left out in the wilderness for another year (nothing new really).
So where did I start looking for the free entry for kids to the stadium?
The first thing I looked at was where we were buying the tickets from, which was the NRL site first and then the Ticketec site.
This only had information about family packages for 4, 2 x Adults and 2 x Children with no ages listed for free entry.
These sites didn’t really give me much info at all about the kids for free so I thought about the next thing I would search for which was “Kids Free ANZ Stadium”
This bought up a lot better information and also the correct information.
So, are kids tickets free for ANZ Stadium?
Not all kids tickets are free, only if they are under 3 years old and this is called “Free On The Knee”.
Also note that at the time I am writing this that the AFL do have a 5 years and under “Free On The Knee” rule in place, nice one AFL!
Also there are different age limits, depending on the sport, to purchase a child ticket at the stadium.
So, are Kids Tickets Free for all sporting codes?
Yes, depending on the age.
Here are the kids “Free On The Knee” ages for ANZ Stadium or as it is called sometimes, Olympic Park.
Australian Rugby Union
All Test Matches = Child Ticket 4 -16 years = Children 3 years and under
Super Rugby – Waratahs
Child Ticket 4 -15 years = Children 3 years and under
NRL National Rugby League – Bulldogs
Child Ticket 4 -15 years = Children 3 years and under
NRL National Rugby League – Rabbitohs

NRL National Rugby League – State of Origin, Finals, and Grand Final

AFL Australian Football League – Swans

So after getting this information we could buy the right amount of tickets and the right types too for the kids without travelling all the way down to NSW and have the little one not allowed in.
This also saved us $$$ buy not buying an extra ticket when we didn’t need to.
I hope this helps you out as well if you are heading to any of the games next season.
If you do need to double-check the info season to season, here is the link “Kids Free On The Knee”.
Oh while I am at it, I might as well mention the Brisbane rules….
The kids for free age at Suncorp Stadium (Lang Park), (just so you know as I hadn’t written it above), the limit is 3 years old for this Brisbane stadium.
So if under 3, free to sit on your knee.
Enjoy the games!
