To buy firewood in Brisbane and specifically on the Northside of Brisbane, you would think would be a relatively easy’ish task.
You have the money, you have a fireplace, you have the want, the need and urgency as it’s starting to cool down.
But alas, it was harder than I thought to track down a consistent, convenient, cost effective and free delivery of firewood to our North Brisbane home.
For a start, if you can get through the endless list of linked pages and the odd Gumtree/Yellow Pages page that has firewood available but not in your area, and many of the the buy firewood on the Northside of Brisbane sites of companies that aren’t on the Brisbane Northside, let alone deliver firewood there, you are off to a good start.
Also many are Tree Doctors and have firewood as a sideline for their business and I found that a lot of these didn’t have firewood pricing at all on their sites.
There are many firewood companies that are Brisbane based but not specifically here on the Northside.
So after many computer, phone and Facebook Marketplace sessions and being quoted delivery fee’s almost as much as the firewood price, I had almost given up.
I was resigned to getting out the chainsaw and helping the father in-law cut up his trees, mind you, they would be damp not suitable for burning this winter.
One good thing about this experience so far is that I now know that not all firewood is created equal.
How firewood burns (burn time) and creates heat (heat generated during burn) are what you’re looking for and there are specific types of woods that are superior in these areas and are better than others.
Hardwood is one of the best for firewood and if it’s aged and dry, it’s the best firewood you can get.
Prices, I have found, has varied a lot from website to website and from phone call to phone call.
So, how was I going to get firewood to my house in North Brisbane if there isn’t anybody close and not pay a fortune?
A chance spotting of a Facebook Marketplace ad and screenshotting it for later sorted this out and so I reached out to my new firewood supplier, Rod.
On the ad it read this (Yes, I know it’s all in capitols)

I introduced myself on messenger and told him how hard it is to find firewood on the Northside of Brisbane and asked if there was any free delivery slots in the coming days.
There wasn’t and we had to wait a few weeks, but that was Ok as it hadn’t reached the peak of winter coolness in Brisbane as yet.
So, great pricing for a load of hardwood firewood to our North Brisbane home, equals warm and happy family.
Make sure to reach out to Rod for your firewood delivery, make sure to either get in early or plan a head as he is very busy.
You could always collect yourself as well if he hasn’t got any local delivery slots left.
I think since we started getting firewood delivered it’s been getting busier and busier for local firewood suppliers.
My thoughts on this are that with the uptake of smokers and fire pits into almost every house that the demand has skyrocketed for wood and there is a need for deliveries and firewood pretty. much all year round now to cater for the smokers at least.
Anyway, stay warm and give Rod a holler if you need a firewood delivery to your house on the Northside of Brisbane.
