I first heard of Costco in Brisbane on ABC 612 am that I listen to quite frequently in the car while I’m driving around for work (Keeps you in touch with what’s happening on Brisbane roads and also current news and sports), so I had to look it up as we haven’t at this stage got one here in Brisbane.
But looking into it more Costco is coming to Northlakes on the Northside of Brisbane and has plans for a few more opening after this on the Southside of Brisbane and the Westside of Brisbane too.
Costco that started in the U.S.A is a Membership Warehouse Club that provides a selection of brand name products at good prices to their members (You pay a yearly fee for a Costco Membership Card).
They also have their own home brand too which is called Kirkland Signature.
When you shop at Costco you can purchase as individuals or get a tax invoice for your business on purchases too, also there are reports about Costco getting into supplying petrol too, which could be good or bad for competition.
From all reports, there is good and bad things about the Costco business setup, you have to buy a big amount of the one product to save your dollars.
This means you will have to do the math on whether you will get your membership money back in savings, but generally there are good reports from people who have the Costco experience here in Australia.
Anyway, I reserve full judgment for when I see a Costco in Brisbane and experience it for myself or coax a family member to join up so I can go and have a look, like anything new and fresh I’m sure when Costco opens in Brisbane it will be big news and there will be plenty of people heading through their doors.
I’ll update this writing when Costco opens their doors here in Brisbane and for some people, their lives will change forever.
