There is nothing more annoying in the middle of the night than beeping smoke alarms.

Some call it chirping, I still call it beeping.

I have had a few of these offenders interrupting my sleep over the years, just had another one this morning.

So I thought I’d write about it for you.

Now there are usually a few things that can happen to a smoke alarm from my personal experience that will have them making noise.

I have had them going off in the middle of the night when it is hot and humid.

There’s been the standard setting off the smoke alarm with the smoke from making toast.

And the beeping smoke alarms that just give out a quick shrill chirp to let you know they are still there and that you need to pay them some attention.

Today I got a phone call from 08 7070 6189 around 2pm on my mobile phone and they left a message.

So I rung my message bank and to my surprise it was the ATO Australian Tax Office, or was it?

I have been rung by many people pretending to be other people but this is the first time that the ATO has rung me or even left a message for me.

It was an automated message with an American Twang to it and also the language / phasing was wrong in many places.
