Laundry renovations are starting soon and the quote is in, all the drawings with what we want are finalised, put on paper, price quoted and given back to us to sign off on.
Although it is a little on the high side in dollar amount at least we know the quality is there and also based on the hugs n kisses families dealing with the kitchen and cabinets maker in all their renovations they have done on their house over the years, another thing is our Laundry / Wash house is a monster, it is almost as big as one of the squids rooms so it we thought it would cost a fair amount, but when finished it will have so much storage space and also be easy to use.
The good thing about the whole process of laundry renovations up until now is it has been pretty easy going due to Haddon and also throughout the job as it is managed by Haddon too, the tradesmen have to show up and show up on time for the job to roll on, I have had a lot of friends and also from working in my trade have tradesmen show up when they want to and sometimes not show at all either to start or to finish jobs, so having a one stop renovation shop is a great thing to make the renovation process easy and less stress.
We had to go and choose the colours for the tops, cupboards, skirting and the handles etc too, following this the next step was the tiles for the Laundry / Wash house and the Laundry / Wash house Basin and Taps too.
These ended up being a good experience as well, for the colours we bought home from Haddon a couple of samples to place in the areas and then we chose from there.
Then the tiles were next, we went to Uptiles at Strathpine and the service there was great too, the good thing about using these referred businesses from our builder is that not only does he get more jobs from the business he sends you to but also they take care of you a bit more as they are benefiting from the extra business too, we were told to get floor tiles and make them a little bigger than what we have to get more coverage and to protect the grout from moving in coming years as it has done now from our floor and house being a little older, these tiles can also be used for skirting as well.
We had to pick a different tile for the Laundry / Wash house splash back and also we went for a GT racing stripe of a different tile in the middle of the wash basin, I’m sure it has a different trade name to that but I don’t know it as yet so I’ll run with the GT racing stripe.
That took about an hour or so to run through different possibilities and also to see if the tiles matched everything else and also each other, quite daunting the process of picking the colour of tiles based on your own visualisation of what you think the room will look like, it also has to take in consideration in this process that it will match your whole house when finished too.
Next it was onto the wash basin and taps, as these are pretty standard these days we just had to go through the motions of seeing the basin and taps and confirming they were the right ones for us, so easy again.
We went just down the road from Uptiles to a place called Burmar Plumbing Supplies, you can see the address on my Renovations Trade page, this also was a good experience and also very good in regards to the next projects which will be bathrooms as we got to see all the baths, bathroom sinks and the massive variety of taps and shower heads.
A standard wash basin and just a plain Laundry / Wash house mixer tap fitting were ordered and getting sent to our builder, again making it easy for us too.
So like I said, a pretty easyish process so far, we will see what happens when the work commences on our laundry renovations in a couple of weeks time.
