Costco North Lakes is open here in Brisbane, it opened on Thursday 29th of May 2014, although I couldn’t get down there in the morning due to work and also having a family I thought I’d go on the first day open in the evening as the crowds would’ve died down by then.
I was certainly wrong.
The opening hours for Costco North Lakes store on the Costco website is 10 am to 8.30 pm weekdays, on the weekend it is Saturday 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.
So I thought with the 8.30 pm closing on the first day I would have plenty of time to have dinner, gets the squids off to bed and then get down there to have a sticky beak for the first time.
Also, I might add while I’m at it the Costco Gas Station is open from Monday to Friday 6 am to 9.30 pm, Saturday 6 am to 7.30 pm and lastly Sunday from 7 am to 6 pm, so different to the main Costco North Lakes warehouse.
So I was off to Costco North Lakes at 17 -39 Cook Court, North Lakes.
Driving there it didn’t look too busy compared to the morning going to work where I was stuck for half an hour trying to get out on the highway.
But when I made it across the highway and down that last slope to turn right after Bunnings it was bumper to bumper still and this was around the 7 pm mark and the car park was full to the brim.
There were lollipop men and women ushering cars around to the right places, making sure we all were going the right way and I’m pretty sure, still keeping the traffic flow to Bunnings going as well.
When you got out of the car the hum and noise was certainly up there, there were people and cars everywhere.
People going in that have Costco Cards and lots of people in long lines waiting to sign up or to collect their card.
My first impression when I walked in was overwhelming, I’m not a hardcore shopper but I can see why people love Costco and I can see why people in the area will love Costco North Lakes as it is an experience similar to Bunnings across the road, you walk in and go wow, I want to buy everything but where do I start looking.
As you can see looking into the Costco North Lakes warehouse the lighting is great and inside is absolutely massive with a massive amount of different products in different sizes and pack sizes.
These first two shots are after I just walked in through the doors on the previous shots.
Inside is just hustle and bustle with people everywhere, as you can see the warehouse runs for along way back.
What you can see in the distance is the big freezer sections that reach from the ground to the roof.
Below is the bigger than man size bears that greet you and the kids when you come in through the front doors, obviously they have a section down low that the kids can get stuck into them, have a bit of a wrestle and hawk you to buy them straight from the get go when you walk in.
A thing to remember here is that if you do get sucked into purchasing one of these teddy’s for your little one or one’s you will have to carry it around the whole store with you and risk behind the back sniggering and pointing from other parents in the store.
I have to head off now, I have quite a few more pics to add to my Costco North Lakes opening day experience so keep on coming back and checking, I’ll have them up over the coming days.
