Costco Logan, is it ready to be the latest Brisbane Costco?

If you have been following me you would’ve seen I have an interest in Costco in Brisbane and Queensland area, I had been following the opening of the first Brisbane store, following the rumours for Brisbane’s second Costco and now the latest I have been seeing and hearing about is Costco Logan or lately Costco Loganholme.

In true Costco fashion the speculation starts via the media and people talking about what they have heard or the Costco people they have seen around in areas.

Then usually to hit, the fact that the local council is making it hard for the store to get the necessary ticks of approval to open in the area and this stalls the opening or the confirmation that the store will open within a certain time frame.

So this is where Costco Logan has entered into the speculation of potential sites.

This stemmed from the talks with the local council and it has become to hard to compromise to get the Wacol site moving.

A Costco in the Logan area, Costco Logan or Costco Loganholme maybe just a rumour at the moment but I’d say that with the planning that big business has to do these days it would have to be on the radar at some point for them.

Costco wouldn’t make a decision on a site a few months before and just go and set one up, I’d say it would be planned out to maximise the coverage throughout the Brisbane area and give them the best return on investment.

So I wait with baited breath for the no turning back final confirmation of the second Brisbane Costco store, this decision looks like it has been made with the Wacol site and all the newspaper reports written on it, but I’ll keep one eye on the Costco Logan / Costco Loganholme rumour too.

Costco News Update

Plenty of news stories around at the moment covering the Logan City Council being in discussions with Costco over the new Brisbane Store.

I heard on the radio just the other day that the Mayor of Logan, Pam Parker, had been in confidential discussions with Costco, this is what started me looking for more information.

This radio story included speculation for a site penned for future development that is close to the Logan Hyperdome, which is managed by QIC company for a variety of investors.

So Costco Logan and Costco Loganholme seem to be the places and the front runners now for Costco Brisbane 2 over the Wacol site which was running hot a little while ago.

So where will the next Brisbane Costco be?

We will still have to wait for the 100% notification when the diggers go in and the concrete starts to be poured….

Costco Update 2 :

Just heard on TV this week that Costco are looking at opening 3 stores in the year ahead here in Australia.

One in Marsden Park, Sydney, another in Epping in Melbourne, and last but not least the opening of the second Brisbane Costco store.

They didn’t say what suburb as yet, so the speculation is still either, Costco Wacol or the other Brisbane suburb that is being bandied about.

I’ll still keep looking….

Also Costco revealed that after the others, including the new Brisbane Costco, they will be looking at their second tier city stores, and then will open Costco’s in Newcastle, Wollongong, and Darwin.
