We have decided from this we will start with the laundry renovation first, because we have kids, my wife spends a fair amount of her time in this room (As most Mothers do) and at the moment it is just a stock standard wash house with a free standing cupboard, wash basin, washing machine, dryer on the wall and a camping table on the side, so not very elaborate and also not a very good use of the space.
The next step was for us was having a think about what we want from this room, easy to use, more storage and also a proper place for the wash basket rather than just putting it under the camping table and of course colours.
The final decision of what we want when renovating the laundry, as obviously I am a male of the species, doesn’t really come down to what I want as I don’t spend the time in there and so I don’t really know what I want, females seem to have more of a vision of the ultimate laundry, kitchen or bathroom as they spend a little more time in all of these rooms, maybe my domain will be the toilet reno and I am totally cool with this.
During this preparation time my wife had been looking through magazines online and also a lot of kitchen websites for ideas on the laundry renovation, her parents had used a local Brisbane Northside business and so we booked a meeting to run through a few things and also garner ideas from them.
As you can see in the pictures the laundry is looking a bit old and tired and is in need of the make over laundry renovation.
They sent out a man to give us a quote on what we wanted, he come out and he was very good, professional and timely, as a family business (He was one of the sons) you could tell the pride and passion in what they do rather than a churn and burn sales pitch from a sub contractor, we went through all the rooms we wanted to get renovated for now and he was making detailed notes and measuring everything as he went.
What I found great about his process of quoting was he had been doing for so long he had great ideas for us to maximize the space in the rooms easily.
Also the quotes are going to be for everything completed, so trades are all in there too, this makes a difference in completion time as all the trades are organised by them, the only extras are the painting and I could smash out a great finger painting during my school years so we should be alright in this area.
So we await the quotes now and also the pricing too for the renovation and then the laundry renovation can start.
